HIGHER EDUCATION, SIGNAGE, CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
LOCATION: LINCOLN, NE University of Nebraska Campus Entry MarkersThe University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) had developed a comprehensive master plan document for their campuses. Among the recommendations, a complete wayfinding system to build on current investments in signage. One of the components of the wayfinding system is the Campus Entry Marker. Thirteen site were identified for improvement. A goal of the entry markers is to visually unify the campuses, and better express the UNL brand. A consistent yet distinct wayfinding design for the signage was developed for each campus; City and East.
A red brick was chosen to reinforce the City campus' traditional red brick building design. The East campus is enclosed and defined by an internal loop road on which destinations reside. A lighter-colored brick is the unifying visual feature. The markers consist of brick and limestone peirs. Ornamental fencing, the illuminated "N" logo, and plantings complete the design for each of the 13 entrance locations on both campuses. UNL's construction standards and specifications were rigorously followed. |
