RECREATION FACILITIES, HIGHER EDUCATION
LOCATION: LINCOLN, NE SIZE: 135,000 SF ADDITION UNL Memorial Stadium West AdditionDLR Group and Sinclair Hille & Associates were chosen for a skybox and press facility expansion, and east and west stadium concourse expansions based on innovative design ideas and a unique cost saving approach to construction management. Phased construction occurred over two football seasons without disruption to fans, players, or university personnel. The project includes the addition of 42 revenue-generating skybox seating suites, an expanded press box and broadcast media facility; 1,500 premium club seats, and food and beverage facilities. The historic 1923 building was preserved by enclosing the west facade in the concourse area and recreating many of the stadium's original design features in a contemporary way.
